Guest Teachers Mel & Jo Calanglang

Look as far back as you can at Balboa & Balswing in this country and you’ll find Mel & Jo. From the early days of Dan & Christi Guest’s classes in London, they have been involved in every major balboa event in the UK: The London Balboa Festival; Balboabarmy in Reading; The Cotswold Balboa Festival & Jumping at the Woodside.

With thousands of hours of bal experience at major events all over the world, it would be hard to find an international balboa teacher who they haven’t been taught by. They attended Balboa on the Promenade 2009 (Nice), were finalists in the Frenchie Balboa Festival (Toulouse) 2009 Euro Bal Cup (amateur division) and Mel placed third in the 2009 Studio Hop Summer Camp Jack & Jill competion. In 2007, Mel was a finalist at London Balboa Festival International competition, partnering Marie Nahnefeld (Sweden).

Mel is also one the finest swing DJ’s in the UK and along with Jo is responsible for ‘The Pilot’ a revolutionary and innovative teaching tool for balboa teachers which is helping to raise the standard of balboa dancing and teaching in the UK.

We have been trying for a long time to bring this inspirational couple to Leeds and we know you are going to love them.
